A variation of Mugi Shochu Iki which has its own distinct qualities, Wasanbon Sugar Plum Wine is a Umeshu that is made by adding locally grown Japanese plums and fine-grained, Japanese-made Wasanbon sugar to the Shochu, which is then allowed to age in tanks to develop an elegant, mellow sweetness. Distilled using the Honkaku Shochu single distillation process, the natural sweetness that already exists in the Shochu is enhanced by the Wasanbon sugar while the locally-grown plums provide a richer flavour. Wasanbon Sugar Plum Wine allows one to enjoy the gorgeous aroma that is unique to Shochu, coupled with a mellow, rich taste.
