Hailing from Kurume in the Fukuoka Prefecture in Kyushu, Japan, Mumei Gin is the first Japanese gin to use hops as one of its botanicals. Combined with juniper berries, coriander, bitter orange peel, yuzu, Japanese Gyokuru tea, cherry leaves and Japanese mint, this gin utilises a total of eight botanicals to create a taste very familiar to Japanese palates. “Mumei” in Japanese means “nameless” and the nomenclature is a direct effort by the manufacturer to focus on the taste and not the brand of the liquor. A fitting label for Mumei Gin’s intense taste that is mild and pleasant and can be enjoyed either neat or with tonic.
